Finally back home!!!

Adam has finally graduated and I must say the cutest Doctor I've ever met!!! We are both glad to be home in Mississippi and spending time with our families. I am really enjoying the weather right now, relishing in the fact that I won't have to deal with snow or 5 degree weather ever again!! On the other hand I'm a little disorganized (moving a whole house into one bedroom is just a tad difficult) and no longer have my own computer. Once I get things set up and organized around here I may be able to find some pictures. But for now here are some that Adam e-mailed to me.

Evan's 1st Thanksgiving

It only took me a week to post these pictures, but here they are. Adam's family came up for the holiday and we had a lot of fun. This year I am thankful for Evan and thankful that he is healthy & handsome.

Motherhood....

So it seems that lately all I do is wash clothes & diapers, and do the dishes. Who knew one little person could create so much extra work?? Also I'm getting a little cabin fever, I just want to get out of the house but it's been so cold I really don't want to get the baby out. We'll be home soon & I can't wait for warmer weather.
I haven't been good about taking pictures lately, but I promised I would post some.

My sweet Evan

Sorry to anyone whose call I haven't returned. We are home from the hospital (AGAIN). Evan had jaundice and was admitted back in to the hospital on Friday and we weren't released until Sunday. He is doing okay right now, but we are all pretty worn out and tired.

Evan Joseph is here!!!

Hi everyone.
Evan was born October 6th, 2008 at 2:17pm @ St. Luke's Hospital. He was 9 lbs. and 20.25 inches long. I'll have to admit the Bradley classes were worth the money. I did it with no medication!! (Had I known he was going to be 9 lbs I might have chickened out :) But got lucky and had a pretty short labor for a first time mom. About 6:20 am til 2:17 pm!! But little Evan is okay and I'm okay & Adam is was an awesome birth coach and such a cute Daddy! It was so worth it.
I have been a little busy to post pictures, but check out my brother-in-law Patrick's Blog. He has video's and pictures, and here are a few more. But I will try to post more on here later.

Going Home

So for the entire birth story.
I woke up at 6am to get ready for work. I had really bad diarhrea and then got in the shower. When I got out I had to go to the bathroom again. Apparently my "diahreaa cramps" were making me moan so loud that I woke Adam up. he cam in to check on my and started to time me and said "uh Mary, I don't think diareha happens exactly three minutes apart, i'm pretty sure you're in labor" I was like no it's just diahrea. So he called both of our moms, to let them know it was time to head to St. Louis. I went to the bedroom to get dressed for work and heard/felt a "pop" when I bent over to get my shoes. There was no gush of amniotic fluid so I tried to keep denying that I was in labor, and continued to try to get dressed for work. After realizing my contractions were so strong that I couldn't talk through them I decided to have Adam call into work for me.
I kept getting in the shower to run water over my belly because it felt so good. Adam kept trying to convince me that we needed to go to the hospital. When you're in labor you kinda go into your own little world and hear things in the background. I remember Adam being on the phone with his mom talking about me needed to go to the hospital. So he finally convinced me to go and we get to the hospital around 9am.
A volunteer worker wheeled me up to labor and delivery. The nurse was asking me a bunch of questions while I was having contractions and I just wanted her to shut up, so Adam answered them all for me. Then they checked me and I was already 8 centimeters and 80% effaced!!
So for what seemed like the next 3 hours I had to keep pooping. I would just pull out the cords from the monitor and go to the bathroom. the nurses just said put you hand down there and make sure you don't push out the baby. When I wasn't in the bathroom I was sitting on the bed, and started to have back labor. The only thing that at got me through those back labor pains was I kept telling myself women have been doing this for thousands of years and it's just really bad menstrual cramps. Adam reminded me to try doing some pelvic rocks. So the nice nurse got some pads for the floor and i did some pelvic rocks and she got me a birth ball. I ended up hugging the birth ball while on my knees rather than sitting on top of it. But the pelvic rocks worked the back labor went away and little Evan flipped.
Around noon/1pm the nurse checked me again and said he wasn't moving down. Adam reminded me about squatting opening your pelvis, so I got down on the floor and started squatting. During all of this I felt like I had to push. When they checked me again they said I was ready to push.
They called for the doctor to come in and when she got there it dawned on me that we didn't finish all of the Bradley classes and I didn't read about pushing. i told the Dr. i didn't know how to push and she said son't worry about it we will tell you what to do.
